Asia Boat Show 2008 - Singapore by John Foster

Asia Boat Show 2008 was held at Kepple Bay. Singapore's newest Marina.
This year it had an international flavour with more than 100 exhibitors from Japan, Denmark,Thailand and Hong Kong to appeal to the affluent individuals of the area.

And it was a well organised event, My favorite of the show was the new Hunter 49 (pictured left) It had a real feel of luxury and space. The thing I really liked, was the main sail and how it furls back into the vertical mast and is controled from the cockpit making life very easy going for one or two person to handle.

The agent on board, Sonny Soh (Pen-Marine SDN BHD) was a charming man and nothing was to much trouble for him to explain the features of the boat.

It's also a good time to buy American boats, with the exchange rate being low right now.

Also at the show was luxury cars The Star was the new Audi R8 sports, what a car in looks and performance.

I was also amazed at the jet skis and how big they seamed to be getting and powerful to boot.

I was well looked after and even had a beer provided by the nice guys and girls on the Fixtec stand displaying the new navsat equipment with 3d and to follow had ice cream and coffee provided by the nice girls on the Movenpick stand

Then it was out to the dock area to get onto the boats which for me was like candy to the kids. I went on every boat each one having its own unique selling point, but the best for me was the hunter 49. this just had every thing for blue sea sailing.
