Facebook is Like Comfort Food For the Sole: By Arnold Nadler

This social network site allows people to connect with their past and present. Who would have ever thought that in our lifetime we would be able to unite with old friends and family we lost touch with over the years, and actually catch up no matter where they live in the world. In my opinion this is a modern miracle.

Especially being in my late forties this time of life is very reflective for me. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have seen quite a few close people pass over the years, or that I am starting to realize there might be more behind me than in front. The people we grew up with will always have a special place in our hearts, because their actions let it be positive or negative ones helped shape the people we are today.

One of my favorite features of this website is being able to see current pictures of these people and their families. I find it fascinating to see their children looking so much like they did the last time we saw each other. Now we look like our parents did all those years ago. Times goes very quickly with us hardly realizing it.

With all that said nothing will ever be the same, too much time has passed we experienced different things, but perhaps there is always the possibility of making new memories. I think one of the greatest songs that describe my feeling with Facebook is "Old School" by Hedley.

A perfect quote from that song is: "So why don't you meet me, down behind the old school, we will waste away the weekend with perfect regard for how cavalier we used to be, that beautiful insanity. The apathy surrounding me, do not close your eyes or we will fade away"

Facebook is like comfort food for the sole, and I hope to see you there sometime!!
