Working From Home - So Cool, and Relaxing.

Working for home is a luxury that can not be taken for granted, One has to be disciplined with time (I am not by the way) in order to mix your work with the distractions of the home.

The reason I am not is because I put my office into the main Living room, Now the advice from the experts is that it's not a good idea to do that, but for me my pets are part of my life and the thought of working in a room and not seeing them would for me drive me crazy.

OK I am the first to admit that I often distracted by them and often get up to play with them, then the lovebird fly's over and wants to fight me over the keyboard, she loves to attack the keys as i click on them. And yes some people would hate that but I love it.

I have to stop work and give them the attention they require, BUT HEY!! what's the point of having pets if you do not interact with them.

Just look at how cute they are,

Mia Zonked Out after playing.

Suki wants more, look how she keeps eye on me.

Dawn the lovebird,

And little Dawn how can you ignore her she is so cute.

I spend about 8 to 10 hours a day working away on the computer so the little interruptions the pets cause is good for my health, other wise my eyes would be shot.

If you are wondering what i do for my working At home, I am a Webmaster, and Internet Marketing Manager, what this means is I build websites, and also managed websites. It gives me a relaxed living and while I will never be a millionaire it does cover the bills and thats all anyone should need to enjoy ones life without Stress.

Contentment for life and work is very important, to much work and not enough play time is not good. So finding a nice balance in your life is the way to go.

For me I have been a homeworker for the last 15 years - NO BOSS!! - it's so cool when you are only answerable to yourself. (unless i have deadline on a job), but  having said that, I just don't take high stress jobs now, all my work is done as and when I feel like.

Oh well time for a swim - ha ha just rubbing it in. lol

If working from home is something you may want to try, then the Millionaire Society is the answer to your  prayers! It was for me.. and still is.

Dawn the LoveBird - Flight Training - So Cute

Saturday after noon was playing with our Dawn and once she saw i had the iphone in my hand she wanted it, so I used it as excuse to practice her flying skills.

See for yourself - hope you enjoy her.

Friday Night is American Idol Night with Nice Meal

Thought I would make a nice Special Meal for our Friday Night.

Nice Steaks thawing out, with a stir fry mix veg, and sauted potatoes which later will add garlic butter, followed by a nice big Apple Crumble and Custard, and served throughout with nice bottle of Red Wine.

But the main reason for pre-cooking it all, is so we don't miss any of the american Idol, we just love to see the people singing their little hearts out to get a place in the final 24.

I must say that this year all the contestants are not bad, and while some of the one's chosen I feel others were better I will reserve judgement till later to see how the judges selections go after all they are the experts(said with tongue in cheek)

OK - How did it all go? well to be honest it was crap.

They steaks I pounded with mallet then marinaded them for three hours in teriyaki with garlic sauce, but when i cooked for three mins each side was so tough I could have used them for new soles for my shoes.

So we ate all apart from the steaks, (of course I waste nothing) had them next day, cut them thin and fried them with mushrooms and served over noodle for lunch and it was a hit, so tasty and filling.

this was stir fry veg and was so nice.

Potatoes cooking in salted water

Apple crumble with cinnamon and nutmeg was a big hit and lasted two days

This wine was crap, even though i let it breath for 3 hours it was still bitter, yuk.

But once again i waste nothing and had to just finish it off and take like a man.

Have to say after the first glass i was feeling rather merry, so although taste was crap the kick was OK.

American Idol was good really enjoyed it.

All in all folks it was good start to weekend,

Hope you all have a good weekend.

regards J.......

Table Take over with Mia and Suki

Mia and Suki joined us for afternoon tea and took over the whole table.

both are tired after playing with their new toys.

Dawn lovebird helps with blogging

Dawn cannot help herself fly over when she hears me clicking away on the keyboard, then she bites each key that I click. And my finger when she misses her target lol.

One thing for sure it's impossible to get any work done when she is out of the cage. Like all ladies. She demands attention.

But I love her to bits she so cute. Don't you agree?

Todays Funnies - Hope They Not True!

Qantas Airlines:       Repair Division
In case you need a laugh:
Remember, it takes a college degree to fly a plane but only a high school diploma to fix one.

After every flight,
Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a 'Gripe Sheet' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft.
The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the Gripe Sheets before the next flight.

Never let
it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour.
Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way
, Qantas is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

P: Left inside main tyre almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tyre.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.

P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny............ (I love this one!)
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last
..................
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Trying It Out For Size - For My New Home

If I look happy, it's because I am. I had just had my piano lesson and on the way out just had to try out this baby grand piano.

The experience of playing with the baby grand was wonderful as the sound appears to surround you.

I defiantly will buy one for my new home which I am having built and will be ready in approx 2 years, Such a long time i know but it will all be worth it in the end.

Right now I play on a piano keyboard (digital) and while it's ok I am looking forward to getting a piano.

OK well its practice time. byeeeeeeeeeee.

Gimmie Your Dough - I Give You Some Bread

Just made this loaf and today I used some whole wheat floor I got from the Bakers zone in Johor Bahru.

I love this store, but BE WARNED, they have such choice you can not help but buy. I went in to get floor came out with bread tins home made jams, baking ingredients, butter, chocolate and big bags of mixed herbs, and oregano my favorite for my pasta dishes.

To Be honest when I first came to JB it was nightmare to find ingredients i required to make my breads and cakes, pies etc. Gourmet Foods
So when Bakers Zone opened I was so happy. My next cake is an apple cake with oats toppings different but should be nice.

todays Bread is mix of two parts white organic bread flour one part whole wheat flour, salt, olive oil, sugar yeast and water thats it just mix, kneed, prove then kneed again shape and place into greased tins. takes no time at all its the proving and raising that take up the time.

but I am sure you will agree being able to eat fresh bread every day like the one above is all part of living the good life in Johor Bahru Malaysia.

I shall make some home made pate to spread on with it and some nice cheddar cheese, pickle onions some olives and gurkins, little salad and you have the perfect lunch time meal, weekend of course it goes with white wine chilled and ready to partake. Cheers....
Loaf so big fill the oven

got this to spread onto my home made Cheesecake

spread for my scones

this is great flour but must be kept in Fridge.. Tip they gave me.

Xbox Sold, So Many Enquiries But Not In Johor Bahru

This morning got sms asking if the xbox was still for sale, which was a surprise as i had put the ad in 60 odd days ago and had forgotten about it really, Well this time it was a nice man living in JB who came to view it right away.

He got it for his Son who I am sure will really enjoy it, much better than being at my home not being appreciated anymore.

When I lived in the UK I used to sell lots of items on Ebay, but Ebay malaysia has not got as many items or categories I should say.

I furnished my home in the UK with wonderful antiques furnishings I found on ebay.

Then when it was time for a change I would resell on Ebay, Recycling is the way to go on this little planet of ours.

I bought a car in the UK from ebay a ford Escort got it around 200pounds it was 10 years old and only thing wrong was exhaust falling off, so one New exhaust and four new tyres, I always put new tyres on any car i buy because when you think of it, only a little bit of rubber touches the road on each tyre so it pays to make sure you have the best tyres and I usually go for the michelin pilot series, Now on my car i got the pilot3 sport tyres which are great for malaysia and its rainy days.

I feel so safe, anyway back to the ford car, it turned out to be one the best reliable cars i ever had and i had about 20 over the years, I get bored and like to change every year or two at least.

It was a very good car and fuel usage was so good at around 38mph , good price for tax and insurance, when i came over to malaysia I sold it to a friend for same price i paid and he still uses it every day and that was 6 years ago - So you can find some great bargains online,

The secret is patience, Don't rush into the first one you see, take your time do your research, Then make your offer, unless its fixed price then pay the asking price.

Now in Malaysia I use Adpost, mysimplyfied ads, OXL all are good but for me adpost and oxl are fastest, mysimplyfied is so slow to load i get board.

So give it ago if you have items you no longer use, put them up for sale. I am glad I did.

Updating my Website For Johor Bahru, Malaysia 2012

Just been updating my website for Johor Bahru and it always amazes me that so much is going on around me.

When I first came over in 2005  to retire it was laid back and a relaxed kinda town, and in some ways it still is, but the good thing is its also got lots more going on such as now their is a vast choice when it comes to shopping and eating out in Johor Bahru, as well as the hawker food and cheap cafes their is also lots more fine dinning places to eat and enjoy your selfs, but for me its the choice of shopping malls that have sprung up all around this town, from Jusco at Tebrau to Tesco in Bukit Indah and even down to MYDIN in East Ledang we now have such choice.

But more than that, it give's the family places to go and shop and partake in the many entertainment avenues that the children can do while the adults shop.

Cinemas added to the shopping malls are great, bowling allys added to shopping centre also great for families to get out and about. but also the great outdoors just to get fresh air in the many parks across Johor Bahru.

Events are a big thing now in the many shopping malls and event halls, so much to choose from, bedding shows, I.T shows, home furniture, weddings, and so many the list goes on and on.

And let not forget the many parades and celebrations that to me never seam to end.

I LOVE Johor Bahru and so glad I decided to make my home in Malaysia.

Ipod,Ipad,Iphone - IPaid

When I seen this I had to laugh, Because it's true, but to be honest looking at the smiles on the faces of the gadget owners, it is worth it for grumpy daddy to pay lol.

In todays world of technology advancements it can be hard some times to keep up with he latest laptops, computer, mobile phones, ipads all these things change so fast and that is the reason I think daddy is unhappy - because he knows that in no time at all, he will have to pay again for all these items to be replaced.

But Daddy don't moan when he buys his new golf clubs lol.

Enjoy your weekend..

Bowling in Malaysia - I am retired and Love It Also.

Malaysia Bowling Team
When I retired over to Malaysia in 2006 one of the things I took up again was bowling.

The local leisure mall in Johor Bahru has a good bowling ally and in the mornings till around 2pm its only Rm2 per game, but I was surprised at how busy it gets at that time of the days.

The good thing is it's a game one can go to play on one's own and enjoy it, of course its not long before someone will ask to join you.

So not only is it good for you but you get to make new friends and enjoy the games.

Being retired one has to find things to fill your time, it can be sports, voluntary work or just a walk in the park. the thing is you have to keep the Brian working.

My Dad bless him always said - Use it or lose it. and in many ways and things in life its true.

Fact No 1 - I do not know how I had time to work. every day I am finding that there is not enough hours in the day to fulfil the things I wish to accomplish, yet back in the UK I used to work 10 hours a day and yet still have my hobbies.

Living here in Malaysia, I get up each day around 5.30am have my morning coffee out on the balcony and listen to Johor Bahru waking up, you get the call to prayers around that time, and you can hear the faint sound of the motor bike brigade heading for the CIQ and on into Singapore, It really is the best time of day for me.

Then around 6.30am its off to the gym for hour or two depending on the workout i have planed for that day I can be their for around two hours.

Today I did some swimming at my condominium and really enjoyed it, then followed it up with breakfast in the Cafe. Great start to any day and its only 9am now.

So its some blogging some website building, and then its housework, Yes even us men do the housework these days.

The best of it is, their are so many people working hard back in the UK that could also retire here in Malaysia and also live the good life, if only they knew how.

Balcony Garden - Clean up and Rearrange.

I spent most of yesterday out on the balcony, at first it was just to repair the waterfall as the sealant had come lose and water was seeping below it. and although not a problem as it still flowed into the pond below it it was becoming unsightly.

Well I got a nice surprise as I was welcomed into the lower pond, by about 50 new baby fry, all swimming about happy at the top of the water. Now while this looks so nice, it has another side to it and in fact altered my whole work to be done on the balcony as I had to remove the fry or they would have been eaten by the other fish.

OK so no big deal but it did mean setting up a full aquarium tank again which I had only just put away into storage.

So with that taking about one hour it was time to start on the repair, but to be honest after looking closely at it again I decided to do away with the top pond altogether and rearrange the balcony to achieve more room yet still have a great focal feature.

So I did a full service on both pumps in the lower pond, one feed the bio filter system and the other is a feed to the Dolphin.

So pleased to report successful day the pond looks great the balcony has more room and more importantly I have about 50 babies to care for.

I also have cleaned out the Marine tank and rearranged it, it is now going to be a marine fish only tank, and is cycling the water now. I shall put about 4 clown fish in and monitor how they go first.

View from Sands Resort Hotel. Singapore.

Just quick post, my friend was over in Singapore and sent me the pictures.

Mia the Cat Model - Well she thinks so.

My Cat Mia is such a poser and love nothing more than to pose for the camera.

Best of it is. she is so good at it.

she is so cute in this picture it makes me feel so nice inside.

Two seconds before this shot was taken, she was play fighting with her sister Suki who hates the camera and runs if you point it at her.

Prime Minister's Visit to Johor Bahru - Lights up the Sky for Chin Gay Celebrations

THE Chinese in Johor Bahru celebrated the five-day Johor Ku Miao (old temple) procession. ... The procession is also widely known as the Johor Baru chingay procession. Was a big success except for all the poor motorist that got held up last night around Johor Bahru city centre area, all road leading into and out of the city was grid locked for about 6 hours while the celebration along Jalan ah wong fook took place with special guest attending Among them was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

JOHOR BAHRU: So many Local people and visitors watched the colourful Johor Bahru Chingay parade. Crowds lined the 10km route some two hours, waiting to get the best views...

Later in the evening fireworks were set off over the city, see video taken from my condominium balcony in johor bahru.
