E =EDL Dispersal Link in Johor

The long awaiting East Dispersal Link,EDL, is finally opened for public! EDL with total 6 lanes highway - This 8.1km EDL disperses traffic within and among the main artery roads in Johor Bahru to the second link in the south and over to Pasir Gudang on the east side.

For many people and me included - the hope is that this road infrastructure will alleviate the traffic congestion we have along the tebrau corridor.

Because getting one side to the other often takes ages due to all the traffic flowing out of the ciq heading out towards the motorways and shopping malls.

This morning was a good sign as on my way back from custom heading along the flyover jalan tebrau i could see that the cues were already so small. lets hope the EDL is doing its job and allowing people escape routes from the city without having the delays.

this will not only be good for us locals but for all the many thousands of Singaporeans that come every day for shopping, fuel etc. As having wait ages just to get into Malaysia only to find the roads jammed. but could that all be a thing of the passed I hope so.

According to the Lingkaran Selatan Sdn. Bhd, Project Director, Mr. Shahruddin Mohamed, the opening of the 8.1km, six lane express way will ease the traffic congestion normally encountered by motorists along Jalan Tebrau during peak hours.

The expressway links the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes at the causeway with the North-South Highway at the Pandan Interchange. With a built up value of RM 977mil the expressway is expected to improve the congested traffic in Johor Bahru and help to boost the economy by enhancing the link between the main Tebrau industrial area and the port of Pasir Gudang.

Lingkaran Selatan Sdn. Bhd is expected to collect toll from road-users in the future which rates would be decided by the cabinet. But now it's FREE so enjoy it while it last lol.

The construction of the Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link was proposed in 2004 in the Ninth Malaysia Plan (2006–2010). The construction began on 1 October 2007 and was completed on 20 March 2012. On 1 April 2012, the highway was opened to public.
