Yeah!! My Gym Back Open - Only two days but I missed it.

Its amazing really 2 days without going to gym and I was lost - You see I go every day then suddenly you not able to - It leave a lost feeling inside you.

Well I did my 1/2 hour cardio then went on to do free weights, Steam room then into the Jacuzzi.

So Now I feel fresh and ready for the day. Its a good feeling.

wow I am so lost today, Normally my day starts at 6 am with a trip down to my local gym at the thistle hotel and its now closed for maintenance and refurbishment. until further notice oh wow I hate this.....

Of course I can use the gym here at the condominium but its not the same, the thistle is so good and the people that use it are so nice and from all over the world.

Plus its got a nice resort feel to it and I can go laze by the pool have lunch and coffee its such a nice place to be...

Oh well I guess when it reopens it will look good and who know maybe we get some new machines....... to play on - the Jacuzzi here is the biggest i have seen since my football days when the full team used to get in one after the match. I reckon you can get about 15 in it, in comfort.

Well thats my moan for the day, hope your day goes great..

New Printer - Great deal in Johor Bahru

My printer went on the blink and narrowed it down to the printer cartridge, when I enquired how much for a new I was shocked to find it cost nearly more than the printer cost 5 years ago.

So I just bought a new printer for the same price.

I do lots of printing but right now i have lots of online forms to print off, so I can fill in and send by post.

the bottom is the old printer and the black one on top is the new one i just got.

They are smart you know as they now no longer give you the bottom tray to catch the papers, saving money, but hey folks it only cost RM119 with two year warranty.

The bottom one is cool as I can still use as a scanner and top one for all my printing needs.

Danga city mall is where I got it 2nd floor, two very nice and well informed young ladies helped me with my choice and were excellent in their service.

Thistle Hotel JB - So Busy By The Pool - Great For Family Time

Went to the gym this morning around 9 30 and on arrival the pool area was already packed out and so lively with families having such a good time, The gym and Jacuzzi was also very busy.

I had a good cardio workout 1 hour, then weights 30 mins then out to the pool and swim 30 mins, then I just chilled by the pool by which time most of the families had gone for their lunches, so I had it to myself almost.

The staff at this hotel are so helpful, nothing seams to much trouble for them.

Oh well the rest of the day will be playing with my pets, dvds and relax around 5 30 on the balcony with a good book and glass of wine if the rain stops. Looking up it looks like it will do.

CNY. Fireworks. Best Yet.

Last night in JB. Malaysia. W
As the best display of fireworks I have seen in six years of living here.

OK I have to tell you up front, this was not at special display event.

This was just what saw from my balcony 22 floors up overlooking JB.

And all areas as far as 2nd link.

What in my opinion was special was the amount of continuous time they were going for, at least 20 mins ++.

Enough time for me to relax and finish a glass or two of Bubbly. ( well it is CNY). Lol.

One of the things that went through my mind was how much money was spent on fireworks. Only to go up in smoke. So to speak.

Then I guess the pleasure they give to people blessed to see them is worth so much more.

Toast Box - Butters You UP

I love to go to the malls in JB and nearly always will go to toast box for a quick coffee, The other day however I thought I would have a go at one of the sets No1 - you get two softish boiled eggs, coffee, and Kaya toast all for a great price of RM6.75. Now Look at the picture and tell me whats wrong with it.

OK this is Singapore so it's Set No 2 but straight away look at the toast bit - you see what looks like a slice of cheese is actually BUTTER.
So much of it.

Now look at my tray from the other day.

Ha ha you see so much butter not needed, of course thats their way of doing it and I would not dream of asking them to change but it's no wonder Malaysia has a high rate of overweight people with heart problems. (worldwide problem actually not just here) but for me this is disgusting to shove this pure fat down your throat.

I love to cook and use butter a lot so do not want to be a hypocrite, the point i'm making is spread the butter thinly then add Kaya, not only would it be kinder to the people having to eat this but save toast box a small fortune overtime.

Will I still order this - Of course - I will just scape it off as above picture shows.

Saw this at Suetra Mall and thought about how people will be running around to get ready for the CNY..

Everywhere you go the place is awash with the color RED, all the shops selling the scrolls, the lanterns, and so many other products in red.

I took a trip up to Jusco Tebrau over the weekend and it was packed out to the rafters, so many people getting in the celebration products.

A lot of preparation goes in to making it a really good event as we all welcome in the year of the Dragon, I wish all my friends a productive and happy new year for 2012.

It was really cool the way the shading makes it POP out at you.

Mia Loves 2012 Already in the Editors Chair.

Ha ha Mia is so cute, I decided to give the fishtanks a good clean out and prepared for the removal of rocks to clean when I was just about to move over the hugh marine live rock from the tank into the red bowl I got a surprise to find Mia had already claimed this bowl for herself. I decided as she look so comfortable in it I give it to her.

But Not happy with taking over my bowl she decided on early promotion in 2012 and took over my office chair.

Oh yeah! this feel so good.

Not a care in the world.
How nice to be a cat, she gets fed three times a day, groomed every two days, take over the best seating spots, does tricks for treats and thats only the time she is awake as they sleep for so much of their lives.

I have to be careful because both Mia and Suki love to sit near me, if I go to master bedroom, when I come out their they both are waiting.

It's a good life in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

My Resolutions for 2012

Practice Piano daily even if only ten mins.
Be living in my new house by March.
Do more house work.
Have two holidays at least.
Although nothing to hard on my list i feel setting goal should be reachable. Or to easy to give up.

New Year New Look - Balcony Garden

So Looking out at the Garden this morning I thought wow, so many plants - need to pot on to bigger pots then I had to rearrange the balcony to accommodate all the plants,

Im pleased with the outcome, as I spend a lot of time out here, its important to be near my plants, water feature and chimes- the three things that make being outside a pleasure.

I am amazed what you can get on a balcony garden.

So close to the new year. I have spent the day house hunting. Today visits were to the Straitview Condo permas Jaya. Then it was to H. Hills. The Leisure Farms. Back to H. Hills golf and gateway developments. The best of the day was at Bayou water village at the Leisure farms. So nice to look out over the water to the fountain and clubhouse pool. Rm1.2 Mil.

So lets hope i find my dream home in 2012. In Johor Bahru. I just love living here. Until my next blog next year I wish you all the very best.

Scary Moments - Mia Goes Missing

Oh it was such a scary time when we could not find our dear Mia the cat, I am always so worried as we live on the 22nd floor if she managed to get out. So after 3 hours of worry and searching all over for her even the perimeter of the Condo just in case she jump after a bird.

Then we heard this almighty Yawn and stretching noises coming from below the piano keyboard.

Somehow she managed to squeeze herself in between the shelves of the piano books.

These are the pictures i took, I am so happy she is OK. the first pictures are mia and suki opening their christmas presents, they spent ages trying to get the ball out of the box.

For a change we had nice meal with a difference. Not usual turkey meal. We went to the Moet Grill Bar in Bulit Indah.

Starter was : French onion soup.

Next course was: Spaghetti Carbonara.

Next: Chicken salad veg.

Next: Another coffee.

Next: Tiramisu cake Desert

All in all a very enjoyable start to Christmas.

Christmas Candy House at Thistle Hotel Johor Bahru 2011

This is the Candy house they have set up for the children at the thistle hotel in Johor Bahru, I really like this hotel as they always have the children in mind, they can just help themselves to candy, earlier this year they set up a Rabbit petting area on the way out to the pool it was so nice to see the children so excited when they give mr rabbit a nice cuddle.

It's the little things like this that makes this a great family hotel in Johor Bahru.
They also lower the ridge from top pool to the bottom pool so more water flowed down the slope giving the children(and adults) an easy slide down into the bottom pool.

Anyway right now the hotel is very busy which speaks for itself as they have good service and room prices that families can afford. Well done Thistle, and hope you have greater success in 2012.

Wow Christmas Already

Cheer's everyone, I been so busy this last week, it was my aim to be in my new house by end of 2011 but with so many to choose from and so many more coming up, I found it very hard to make my mind up.

Then the ones I liked were to overpriced by speculators who are now trying to off load them before thing turn downwards for the property market, already the banks are tightening the loans they are given and now based on nett earning and not gross as was before.

I went over to horizon residence and found it was sold out apart from one unit that had its loan refused, and I really liked the thoughts of living their, but for one reason or another I am not ready to commit just yet.

Today found out that danga has condo unit coming up just passed the seiborg residence over at permas jaya area, south bay has one launching soon, seita has the 88 towers condo, then the twin towers, the seasons over lakin, just so many more. where is all the people coming from to pay for these units which I might add most are sold out before they come onto the market, in block. then I feel the speculators will panic and sell off their units cheap just to unload them and re-coop the cost.

Oh well I'll enjoy Christmas and New Year then start again in 2012.
I will eat drink and be merry, I hope no bad things happen in the world and we start 2012 off in a good manner. all the best to you all in blog land.

Casio WK8000 Keyboard Workstation - For Sale

Selling My Keyboard Casio WK8000

I decided to sell my keyboard because although it's full size 88 keys
and sounds wonderful the truth is because it has so many gadgets
on it, I find I am playing about with them more than practicing the
songs.

So I have put it up for sale at RM2700 neg, and then I will buy
myself a Piano keyboard only nothing to distract me.

It's funny you know that the older I am getting the young I feel,
after years I got the xbox out of its cobwebs box the other day
and spent hours playing with it - I forgot just how much fun these
things are.

but It also made me realize that gadgets are nothing more that
time wasters and at the end, I had achieved nothing, and that
how I sort of was on the keyboard by using the gadgets and
sounds i was having fun but gaining nothing. at the end of the
week I was not advancing at all on the song sheet i was meant
to be completing.

so Hopefully changing over to the piano keyboard I will progress.

Also the above keyboard is fantastic it has an arranger on it
and tons of things one can do, I used to spend ages just bending
the sounds of instruments and loved it.

I have seen a nice Korg piano keyboard for sale in my local
Music store and love it. Just right size 88keys but no fancy
gadgets like my keyboard above So hopefully no distractions.

As one gets older it's harder to absorb the information
and even harder to keep it stored so I need all the
concentration I can muster.

This will make a great Christmas present I have all the
original wrapping box,foam inserts, clear wrap and books.

I will even trow in the midi cables to connect to the p.c..

Bacon and Egg Sandwich with a Twist.

Whats the twist I hear you say, well its simple but makes all the difference to the taste buds.

First i butter the bread - whole wheat then mix raw egg with chopped bacon salt pepper and herbs of your choice I used mixed variety, then once cooked spread on to bread, then a layer of cheddar cheese cut thin over top.

And this is the twist you then roll the bread and secure with tooth pick, all this time the oven has been heating up to around 220. you place them into the oven on a flat tray and baked for ten minuets.

Then take out and serve they are fantastic and so tasty.

Why I love Living in Johor Bahru Malaysia

A friend just sent me this and while I think it's really funny, It sort of reminded me why I left the UK.

In the UK I was like an old man on crutches - My knees hurt my hands hurt when the weather got cold, which was a lot of the time, and life was not that good, My eyes were getting worse and if I took glasses off I was blind.

I come to live in Malaysia and after few weeks my knees were no longer paining me and I started to do sports again, something I really missed, I took up badminton, swimming I went to gym every morning and I lost lots of weight that I was carrying around, Then one night while having a meal with friends I was talking about how fed up I got when working out at the gym and the glasses kept sliding down my nose.

It was suggested i get my eyes looked at, and Optimax in city square was recommended, turns out I had cataracts in both eyes, no wonder I was finding it hard to see, but I thought it was and old mans problem. anyway cut the long story short I got them done and never looked back, My eyes are perfect now.

so upon seeing the photo above I thought oh wow I not going back to live in UK and my new home is Malaysia.

Funny thing is I even enjoy it here when it rains, and love the lightning and thunder I find it quite exciting and it's FREE.

Asia truly Malaysia.

Johor Premier Outlets,Visited This Weekend,

Went to the Outlets this weekend after much Publicity, I was surprised to find it so hard to find as not one banner showing the way either from the motorway or from kulai, I know because I went round and round trying to find it, cars were even reversing back onto the motorway in efforts to find it.

But to be honest this was only a soft launch so maybe before they open on the 11th they will get it sorted out.

It was a great day lots of sunshine, I was early thats why it looks quiet in the background.

Dim Sum Restaurant in Horizon Hills - Johor Bahru

Very OK, Dim Sum was a great little find the other day, while looking at houses. in the horizon hills development but between you and I they are far to expensive for what they are.

But the food here was great, great choice of dim sum and very tasty.

Pandan Plants, Good to Rid Yourself of Cockroaches

The other day we spotted small cockroach in the car, but two months ago i spotted large one, so I got to thinking of no maybe the new one was a baby of the larger one.

I went straight to the car wash and had it hovered out and sanitized, the car smells great and I am sure that should be enough but Not taking any chances.

I asked a friend where to get Pandan Leaves, as I heard they are great to get rid of cockroaches as they hate the smell/scent it gives off.

and next day she fetched me some in. Now if you know me you will know I love animals and plants - Hence the choice to make them go away and not to kill them.

when I unpacked it was a nice plant already with lots of leaves already been hacked off for use, so I also took some leaves off and YES I planted the root and leaves in the balcony garden, by the pond as they like moist areas, so hopefully it will grow.

Another weekend and another time for house hunting and on this weeks agenda was the SP Setia homes in Setia Tropika area.

I was not to keen on this area but with the new road opening up soon it actually makes it a good area, the new road will continue from the motorway at Tebrau and go passed Permas Jaya, the CIQ and then onto the sea front, it will then continue along the sea front down as far as the southern link into singapore passing Bukit Indah.

I also did some test runs from the area to Sutera Mall area, and was surprised just how quick it was.

Now they have a lot to offer over at the location in terms of houses, villas, bungalows and Condominiums,

I was also surprise that the take up was astonishing.

I'm baffle to understand how people can afford the inflated prices that are being asked by the developers around Johor Bahru, and it's only getting in before the launch dates that can save you thousands of Ringgits, ( Discounts and fee's) that in my opinion makes it worth it.

My Tropical Home In Malaysia. Build or buy? That is the Question.

Just right size for me.

I have been looking for my dream home in the tropics now for over six years, and still I have not found it.

I am now getting fed up Renting (money down the drain) so the question is, do I buy the land in the location I want then build. or keep looking for that perfect home.

For me as a child growing up and watching Ernest Hemingway in his tropical home in Key West.( even though his home was 2 stories it gave me lots of ideas)

I used to love the way the curtains flowed in the breeze and how when bad weather came they closed the shutters, just little things I remember but Malaysia is perfect for me to recreate my own Paradise in the tropics.

Things I will need to dress the home will be

Carved, caned and wicker furniture
Wood flooring
Tile flooring
Area rugs
Curtains
Draperies
Shades
Shutters
Bedding
Mosquito netting
Throw
Folding screen
Plants
Woven hat
Ceiling fans
Bistro set

Tips from ehow.

Shop for furniture made by island craftsmen evoking pieces imported by the European settlers from their homelands. iPhone 4s - My New Toy

Yeah at last I got my hands on the new iphone 4s, but to be honest I am not expecting much different than the 4, I had already, But Oh boy have i had fun with it already.

I have an english assistant on the phone by the name of Sirus, you can have Usa lady or British male, I choose the male and he is so funny.
I called him stupid for not know where Johor Bahru was, and his reply was "Oh I'm sorry to hear you feel that way" but in fact i find it to be very useful and a bit scary because its so dam cleaver and almost like have a human talking back to you.

If you ask him the weather in KL he goes online to find weather forecast etc, in fact his reply was " You will need your umbrella this weekend in KL, and a 5 day forecast was on the phone screen.

I'll do a more in depth review once i have had it a while.

The changes to the iPhone 4S are easy to document - the camera has been upgraded to 8MP (with an improved aperture ratio), the CPU is now the same dual-core A5 processor as seen in the iPad 2, and a seven time increase in graphical processing power.

I had seen these being build and never seemed to have time to call in, so it was a real treat when we did, also a bit of a surprise you see these are really nice houses.

Rainbows Over Johor Bahru - Great To See.

After Visiting the Seed property, we was looking over the site entrance then when I turned around I saw this great Rainbow, and the bottom picture their was a double rainbow although not to clear in the picture.

This is a double rainbow, by the time I got my camera out the second one on the left is about to fade.

but it was a really nice feeling looking at this, in fact I remember thinking is this an omen and I should indeed by a property at the The Seed.

But that's another story...

The Seed development was something I read about last year and thought it looked interesting and as it was by Tanah Sutera Developments you know it will be good.

The above Video is an overview of the project and looks really good, but looking at the amount of properties within this precinct

and all will be able to use the lagoon pool area I can see it being a very noisy place for the condo units that overlook it.

Tropical Heaven in Johor Bahru - Visit to Taman Laguna Show Homes

This weekend House hunting was to Taman Laguna and The Seed developments(my next blog) near Sutera Shopping Mall.

The Houses in Taman Laguna are really a good big size, plenty of room to move about and feel at one with nature as it protrudes into the house by means of a Light-well in the center of the house and floor to ceiling windows all around.

The whole house feels so Tranquil, with spacious living at its best.

But I'll let the photos do the talking.

THIS HOUSE IS THE BEST I SEEN FOR SPACE, and although it's to big for us, it will make a great family home.

On the way back we called in to the scientex development and this was the opel house - I really like the house but not the area , near skudai.

New Store Opens Today in Danga City Mall + Update

This is the new store that is opening at Danga City Mall, I hope they sell some good stuff that I like lol, as its just around the corner from my condo.

I'll Update this page later with my thought about it, layout, products etc.

OK just got back from the store and to be honest it's not what I was hoping for, but it may ok for others. It's very much like the STORE type of layouts except it does not really have a food section to speak off just a few chiller units at the entrance and lots of snack type biscuits and coffee, other than that it's mostly clothes and bedding and baby care items.

But at least its made use of what was deserted space at the mall, and the good thing is, the spin off is that more of the cafes and restaurants are open earlier, to catch the shoppers.

This was only RM26 AT TESCO's KSL City, I got two of them, already, got about ten dead ones in it. Horay!! as I hate the pesky little things biting my ankles.

Each of the BLUE lights has wire going round in circular bands that are electrified so it kills them instantly.

Building on left with Yellows Crane is Traders hotel Under way, the building to the right of it is the Imperia Condominium (I'll do separate blog on this condominium) overlooking the Puteri Harbour in Nusajaya Johor Bahru in Malaysia.

These are high end projects and this is reflected in the prices and finishes within the apartments, these are not empty shells you get them fitted out from top to bottom, I was impressed with the thickness of the tiles they are going to install, also the other fitting look to be made of quality materials that will last.

The Sales Lady we spoke to was so informative and nice to speak to, that we chatted for over an hour about the area and what was going to built around the harbour etc.

I first went to the marina when it was built and this time around I was impressed with how the plant life has matured and gives the place a nice feel.

I do however think its not a place to buy to let out as nothing will really be in full swing for about three years, but for own stay then I would and am thinking about it myself.

you also of course get privilege berthing rights when you purchase an apartment in the Imperia condo.

Guards on duty around the harbour and very pleasant to chat to, their was lots of people about to embark onto a small vessel for a trip over to Singapore.

Also they will be doing a ferry service from here to raffles and the waterfront in Singapore and back, This I find will be a pleasant way to go into singapore and back.

Looks so nice - I have been looking for a 40+ footer now for about three years. and will get one when the price is right, over here in asia the prices are sky high. So I may take a trip up to thailand and have a look round their.

They do bikes for hire also, good idea to use for looking around the area.

Home Fair - Got New LG 742" 3D Smart LED TV

Hi Bloggers,

Apart from getting a great deal at the home fair.

I must say I was disappointed about the show. The Event has so much Promise yet it was held in the small venue KFC Level, however they did not charge for entrance so can not complain to much I guess,

AND of course the home show is on at the New KSL shopping mall this week so my thoughts are that maybe the vender's felt they would get more business from the ksl expo than at the persanda, and to be honest they got more chance of visitor at the shopping mall spending than special trip to the persanda centre.

Good News is I saw and got a new TV, I have been eyeing up the new led tv's and after lots of negotiations I got a deal I could not refuse to accept. And I even got RM1000 for my old tv. which was a samsung 32" and i had if about 4 years, so still in good condition but was happy getting rm1000. for it.

The New TV is the Latest LG 42" 3D LED TV. Model 42LW5700TA and boy is it good.

For me the special thing it has is a 2D to 3D converter, and it does a great job, of course its not perfect but watching film from Astro with 3d glasses on was a breeze and a whole new experience for me.

For a start I was not a fan of 3D as it gave me headache, but these glasses and this set I get none.

The other choice and better picture was the samsung one but the 3d gave me headache. - THE BEST 3D was the Phillips but they are so ugly and bulky.

Also its a Smart TV so can connect to Internet and Surf, play Game, read papers.
So Got my Christmas Present Early. wow thats not to far away now.

Stiffy On At The Gym - Why did Mary want to touch it?

Bet that headline got some attention, even though it's true.

You See I was working out and my shoulder got stiff, and when I turn my head to the side I found that I had to turn body also or got pain in neck area. Not nice at all.

Once Mary saw it she offered to use her healing hands to rid me of the pain,(by all accounts she is very good too) but I said I would try the hot sauna/Steam room first see if it helps, and it did while i still feel little twitches I feel it will go away completely soon.

Think I actually did it while trying to get out of the hammock at
PULAI Desaru Beach Resort and Spa the other day - I fell back and used that side arm to restrain me from hitting the sand, and at the time felt nothing, but thats the only thing I can think off to cause the shoulder pains this morning.

OK well need to get back to doing the ironing from all the clothes we used over the long weekend, (Get the maid to do it - I hear you say!) I would become so lazy if I had a maid, in fact in the uk only the rich have maids so I was very surprised to see over here in malaysia have a maid is commonplace.
